All Kalmar electric straddle carriers are equipped with a standard Combined Charging System (CCS) interface with manual connection. The system supports both CCS2 as standard and CCS1 as an available option, ensuring compatibility across different regions and infrastructure setups.

The CCS interface enables charging power of up to 350 kW / 500 A, using a standard CCS plug and cable. This proven and widely adopted technology provides a reliable and straightforward charging solution for terminal operations.

A full charge typically takes approximately 65–70 minutes, depending on operating conditions and battery status. Charging can be carried out between shifts or when the equipment is not in operation, allowing terminals to integrate charging into existing workflows without disrupting productivity. The CCS charging units can be located near break or holding areas, wherever is most convenient to charge your equipment.

Kalmar Electric Straddle Carrier Charge Family

The Kalmar Charge Family is a comprehensive portfolio of charging solutions and supporting products designed to help operators of both manual and automated terminals transition towards decarbonised operations.

The offering includes three different charging technologies that can be deployed based on each terminal’s operational requirements. Standard Combined Charging System (CCS) charging is included as a baseline solution, providing a reliable and widely adopted interface. For more demanding operations, high-power solutions such as the Kalmar Megawatt Charging System (MCS) and hands-free Kalmar FastCharge™ technology enable battery charging in just 45–50 minutes, supporting continuous, high-utilisation operations.
